How can I tell if I'm running 32-bit or 64-bit Windows?

Check Windows Version Manually:

A. The fastest way to check if you are running 32-bit or 64-bit Windows is with the following keyboard shortcut:  Windows Key + Pause Key




Locate the 'System Type:' field. Take note of whether your system is running a 32-bit or a 64-bit operating system (shown below):



B. If you are running Windows 8
follow these steps:


1. Visit the Windows Start Menu Page (shown below):


2. Right-click in the bottom left corner of the screen to reveal a pop-up menu. Select 'System' as shown:


3. Locate 'System type' to identify which Operating System version you have installed.





C. If you are running Windows 7
or earlier follow these steps:

1. Click on the Windows-Start button in the bottom left corner of the screen to reveal the Start Menu


2. Right-click on the 'Computer' button to reveal a drop-down list. Choose 'Properties'



3. Locate the 'System Type:' field. Take note of whether your system is running a 32-bit or a 64-bit operating system (shown below):

Note: All 3 methods will take you to the System control panel.  Look under System > System Type for the version of Windows you have installed (as shown above)
