How do I download and install the BSU VPN client?

BSU Anyconnect VPN Client Installation instructions for Windows 7, 8


Step 1. Open a web browser (Internet Explorer 8+, Firefox, Chrome) 

Java 6+ is required. Please download and install Java if it is not already installed.

Step 2. Browse to the URL: https://vpn.bsu.edu

Step 3. Log in using your BSU username and password.

Step 4. Choose 'Start Anyconnect' on the left side of the screen.

Step 5. You will now be presented with an automated wizard which will attempt to automatically install VPN for you. Please wait a minute or two for the wizard to progress. Note: If a banner or pop-up window appears asking for you to 'run once' or 'allow' Java, choose 'allow' or 'Run'.

Step 6. If you are told that the automated installation was unsuccessful you may need to install or update Java. See Step 1 for this process.

Step 7. After the wizard installs the VPN you will be connected to BSU through Cisco Anyconnect.

Step 8. You may open and connect through VPN in the future by opening it from the Start Menu or desktop icon (if one is available).

 

BSU AnyConnect VPN Client Installation Instructions for Mac OS X

You must have Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger) or later in order to use the AnyConnect VPN Client. Please install the legacy client for older operating systems.

Step 1. Open a web browser (Safari 4.0+ or Firefox 3.5+)

Java 1.4+ is required. Please download and install Java if it is not already installed or at version 1.4.

Step 2. Browse to the URL: https://vpn.bsu.edu.

Step 3. Log in using your BSU username and password.

Step 4. Choose 'Start Anyconnect' on the left side of the screen.

Step 5. You will now be presented with an automated wizard which will attempt to automatically install VPN for you. Please wait a minute or two for the wizard to progress.

Step 6. If you are told that the automated installation was unsuccessful you may choose to click the link for Mac OS X 10.6+ (Intel).

Step 7. After the download finishes open the file. A window will now appear -- Double click on VPN.pkg to begin the VPN installation process.

Step 8. Follow through the Wizard, clicking continue to install VPN.

Step 9. The Cisco VPN application will now open. Enter vpn.bsu.edu into the Server field if necessary. Click connect. Enter your Ball State Username and Password.


Future VPN sessions can be launched via the AnyConnect client or by browsing to https://vpn.bsu.edu and logging in.
