Can I print from my personal computer to the computer lab printers?

Yes, currently the at the Library, Student Center, Tri-Towers, Twin-Towers, Manchester, Verder computer labs allow printing from personal computers but you will need to install driver software and have money added to your FlashCard.  Please visit http://www.kent.edu/flashcard to add money.  Below are the instructions for Windows and Mac computers:

•    If you have a Windows PC:

  1. First, install the software for the location you want to print to (see table below).  The software is named after the location.
  2. Open the file and click the Install button.
  3. After the install has finished, open your document, select File > Print and select the printer location you installed as the printer.
  4. The popup window will then ask you for your name and Flashline password for the print job.
  5. Visit the printer station, swipe your FlashCard and select your name and enter the password. The payment will be deducted from your account and the print job will begin printing.

  1. Add the name and physical location location of your printer.

  1. For color printing you can usually use "Generic PostScript Printer" as your driver or you can install the driver for the actual model of printer you are using.
  2. For B&W printing make sure the Pharos Administrator has setup a B&W queue for you and choose the HP LaserJet Series PCL 4/5 driver instead.
  1. Repeat as needed for each queue you want to add.
  1. IMPORTANT: Make sure to send one test page which should generate a prompt to all "popup" through the Mac firewall.
