SAS

Kent State University maintains a university-wide limited seat license for SAS. All currently-employed Faculty and Staff, as well as currently-enrolled Students are eligible.

For walk-in assistance with SAS or SPSS software, visit http://www.kent.edu/library/about/depts/statisticalsoftware/walkins.cfm.  Consulting appointments can be made by visiting http://www.kent.edu/library/about/depts/statisticalsoftware/consulting.cfm.

Getting the Software

We currently distribute SAS 9.3 software and licenses, as well as license files for existing 9.1.3 and 9.2 installations. SAS licenses must be renewed yearly.

While there is no version of SAS for Mac OS X, users can leverage virtualization technology to run Windows on their Mac, and then use SAS on the virtual instance of Windows.  This requires two additional components 1) Virtualization software like VMWare Fusion (available to students at no charge through E-Academy) 2) A copy and license of Windows (Windows XP Home, Vista Starter, Vista Home Basic and Vista Home Premium are NOT compatible with SAS).

The Tech Spot can typically assist users in purchasing a Windows license, installing virtualization software and creating the Windows virtual machine.

SAS is installed on IS computer lab machines.
