What is Altiris Client Management Suite?

The Altiris Client Management Suite is a campus-wide centralized workstation management system. This tool is used by OIT staff to manage all university owned computers. Altiris is a client and server system, which means special software, called an agent, resides on each computer and communicates to a central server located on campus. This two-way communication allows OIT staff to use the system to perform a whole range of computer maintenance tasks from one centralized location.  Maintenance tasks include hardware/software inventory, new software installation and upgrades, as well as remote support via a program called PCAnywhere enabling OIT Staff, with your permission, to provide remote technical assistance for your computing needs.
