Can I print from my personal computer to the computer lab printers?

Yes, currently the at the Library, Student Center, Tri-Towers, Twin-Towers, Manchester, Verder computer labs allow printing from personal computers but you will need to install driver software and have money added to your FlashCard.  Please visit http://www.kent.edu/flashcard to add money.  Below are the instructions for Windows and Mac computers:

•    If you have a Windows PC:

  1. First, install the software for the location you want to print to (see table below).  The software is named after the location.
  2. Open the file and click the Install button.
  3. After the install has finished, open your document, select File > Print and select the printer location you installed as the printer.
  4. The popup window will then ask you for your name and an optional password for the print job.
  5. Visit the printer station, swipe your FlashCard and select your name and enter the password (if you provided one). The payment will be deducted from your account and the print job will begin printing.

•    If you have a Mac (only supports OS X 10.5 and above):

  1. First, install the software for the location you want to print to (see table below). The software is named after the location.
  2. Double-click the file to open it. Double-click on Popup.pkg to start the installation. You may be requested to authenticate yourself as an administrator (your computer password).
  3. Select a destination disk. You will only be able to select the startup disk. (This is called Macintosh HD, by default, but could have been renamed)
  4. Click Install (or Upgrade). The installer automatically installs the software and sets up the printer.
  5. After the install has finished, open your document, select File > Print and select the printer location you installed as the printer.
  6. The popup window will then ask you for your name and an optional password for the print job.
  7. Visit the printer station, swipe your FlashCard and select your name and enter the password (if you provided one). The payment will be deducted from your account and the print job will begin printing.
  8. If you would like to be notified if the printer driver is changed, please add your name and contact information to a log by clicking here.
